Two hundred youth practitioners have completed an innovative training programme in financial capability, designed to help young adults in their communities to manage their money during key life transitions such as leaving home, starting work, or going to college or university.
The programme, developed by the National Skills Academy for Financial Services in partnership with OCN London, leads to a Level 3 Award in Financial Capability Support, accredited by OCN London, which covers areas such as opening a bank account, handling loans, working out living costs and accessing benefits. A recent independent evaluation of the project shows that 84 per cent achieved the qualification and 88 per cent felt the course had helped them to support young people to prepare for financial challenges in their lives.
