About this qualification
The OCNLR Level 1 Award in Understanding Safeguarding in a Working Environment aims to help learners understand policies and procedures for safeguarding in preparation for working on an industry placement.
The Award aims to help learners understand:
- the policies and procedures relating to safeguarding in a working environment;
- the importance of safeguarding in a working environment;
- the key aspects of health and safety regulations in a working environment and how to comply with these;
- the meaning of the Prevent duty and the key people involved with the Prevent duty in a working environment.
This qualification supports the Department of Education’s recently published compliance information for education providers and employers offering industry placements in a document titled ‘Health & Safety, Insurance and Safeguarding Guidance’.
