Helping people to create sustainable businesses in Africa
For 15 years the Living Earth Foundation – an international charity – has run OCN London validated programmes in Africa. Their ‘Waste to Wealth’ programme, which works with people in shanty towns in Nigeria, Uganda and Cameroon., focuses on the development of practical skills to help people set up and run their businesses. One is Jean Kenmoe - the owner of a micro-enterprise in Cameroon that transforms hard plastic waste into bowls which are sold in local markets. The charity’s business development programme (validated by OCN London) has helped to develop the capacity of his and other businesses and increase profit margins. By supporting Living Earth Foundation to enhancing their curriculum and quality standards, this has made a major contribution to effective learning. In turn this has also changed behaviour and enhanced economic progress in these communities.
